The first official meeting of the task force for the consolidation of the three residential Springfield, Missouri, Assemblies of God schools will take place February 24 and 25 in Springfield.
As prescribed in General Superintendent George O. Wood's description of the task force, each of the schools - AG Theological Seminary, Central Bible College and Evangel University - have equal representation on the task force, consisting of the school president, a board representative, a faculty representative and a donor representative. In addition, the task force will be chaired by Dr. Wood with Dr. Robert E. Cooley as consultant. The Executive Presbytery is also represented on the task force by three members (the task force staff is listed below).

"I look forward to chairing this task force," Wood states. "I believe that each of the schools have brought together some of the finest minds and individuals in the Assemblies of God to help take Pentecostal education to the next level of national recognition and accessibility."
The task force's purpose is four-fold, but begins with the drafting of the resolution for consolidation to present to the General Council this August in Phoenix. In addition, the task force is charged with positioning the pillars upon which the consolidated school will be built around.
"The three pillars the task force is responsible for creating include a bylaw framework, an organizational framework and a statement of core values and mission on the consolidated school," Wood explains. "If the task force's work meets with General Council approval in August, from there the consolidated university's board of directors will work on all issues related to implementation."
Wood recognizes the recommendation for consolidation has brought about many questions. In addition to a one-hour video of his presentation to the schools' boards and faculty members being available on AGTV, a new "list serve" is now available to individuals who want to receive the latest updates from Dr. Wood on the consolidation efforts.
"This new list serve is designed to keep individuals informed of the facts about the progress of the task force," Wood says, "and hopefully help to reduce hearsay and conjecture." To subscribe to the list serve, click here and look under the "General" heading.
