U.S.A. - Nashville, TN - NRB IS HEADLINE NEWS

Yesterday was an amazing day at NRB 2011. It began with a standing-room-only worship service as Dr. James MacDonald gave a dynamic expository message from Acts 12. “God’s in control when you’re suffering,” said Dr. MacDonald, “And God is in control when it’s midnight” and it seems like our prayers have gone unanswered. People left that room encouraged! Other exciting events included the opening of the Exposition Floor, media awards ceremonies, and the Media Leadership Dinner where the Honorable John Boehner (R-OH), Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, gave his first speech outside of the nation’s capital since becoming Speaker. “The last thing we need…is the FCC serving as Internet traffic controller, and potentially running roughshod over local broadcasters who have been serving their communities with free content for decades,” said Speaker Boehner, in a rousing defense the First Amendment and limited government. “History’s lesson is this: freedom is a God-given right, and we, the people, must ensure government doesn’t take it away.”

On the other side of the Convention Center, NRB participants ended the day with media gurus Michael Flaherty and Simon Swart’s enlightening conversation about movies, home entertainment, and the future of media, hosted by Phil Cooke, with special comments by John Schneider and Mark Joseph. And it wasn’t over until we all laughed with special guest, comedian Michael, Jr., who headlined Comedy Night.

As if all of that excitement wasn’t enough, today promises to be just as phenomenal! Gracia Burnham will share the amazing story of her calling, captivity, and life after rescue at the Women’s Breakfast at 8:00 a.m.

And the biggest news of the day might be the special announcements that will be made at the NRB Press Conference. President & CEO Dr. Frank Wright, Chairman Bill Skelton, and Sr. Vice President of Communications & General Counsel Craig Parshall will highlight current regulatory and legislative threats to free speech and press. They will also reveal new news for NRB. Don’t miss it! Join us in Governor’s Chamber D at 10:30 a.m. and get the 411.

My favorite place in the world is Colorado. I spent every summer there growing up and my family still has a cabin there. I love to hike (up to 12,000 ft peaks), bike, and raft in the mountains, so it is like heaven to me there. Biggest Challenge? My biggest challenge is being patient. I am very efficient and quite a perfectionist, so waiting does not come easily to me. Best Advice? Treat others as you would want to be treated, and never compromise what you know is right. Goals? To be a successful performer who is able to influence people for good.

Recognising Reality - Grieve that God is cursed for every catastrophe, but seldom praised for His wonderful Creation. Lament that God makes the news headlines only when man mocks His power or questions His goodness, but tens-of-thousands of God’s acts of mercy, grace, protection, provision and patience receive no headlines. Grieve that the Name of the only righteous Man who ever walked the earth is used as a swear word on T.V. screens and in cinemas across the world. Grieve that God is blasphemed by the very same people who question why God does not restrain the consequences of their own rebellious actions
