Vyacheslav Goncharenko, pastor of the New Life church in Belarus, shared his opinion on the events which took place at the Independence Square in Minsk on December the 19th, reports New Life church Information Center. I’d like to remind everybody that Man was created in the image of God so the Bible is strict about spilling of blood, especially that of the innocent. “Whoso sheddeth man's blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made he man.” (Genesis 9:6). The spilled blood cries from the ground to God for justice. Thus Abel’s blood cried out from the ground to God. “And he said, What hast thou done? The voice of thy brother's blood crieth unto me from the ground. And now art thou cursed from the earth, which hath opened her mouth to receive thy brother's blood from thy hand.” (Genesis 4:10-11) People who shed other people’s blood will receive a curse on their heads. Cain had a curse for the blood shed, which cried out for justice from the ground: “When thou tillest the ground, it shall not henceforth yield unto thee her strength; a fugitive and a vagabond shalt thou be in the earth.” (Genesis 4:12) God takes the blessing of the earth away from the people who shed blood and such people feel a round peg in a square hole on the face of the earth. They will be as though carried by some invisible winds and their souls shall have no rest for they will carry the curse for shedding of blood. The earth will become a curse for them; it will harm them. Success will withdraw from such people and they will carry the curse as it is written in the Holy Scriptures. “And surely your blood of your lives will I require; at the hand of every beast will I require it, and at the hand of man; at the hand of every man's brother will I require the life of man.” (Genesis 9:5) God promises to require the blood from every creature that has shed it – including man himself. People, who thirst for blood, will get blood. Egyptian pharaohs shed blood for 400 years and one day all the waters of Egypt turned into blood and it was stinking. “And Moses and Aaron did so, as the LORD commanded; and he lifted up the rod, and smote the waters that were in the river, in the sight of Pharaoh, and in the sight of his servants; and all the waters that were in the river were turned to blood. And the fish that was in the river died; and the river stank, and the Egyptians could not drink of the water of the river; and there was blood throughout all the land of Egypt.” (Exodus 7:20-21) Water has always been the source and the symbol of life. And here water turns into blood i.e. the source of life turns into the source of death. People, who shed blood, will fail to fulfill their dreams. Even King David, who had a big dream to build a temple for the Lord, was refused for having shed a lot of blood. Such people will fail to finish what they have started and so will not experience the joy and the blessing of the completion. They shall not have completion feasts because they shall see no completion. It is worth thinking of. All the aforesaid has a direct reference to the events of December the 19th which took place at the Independence Square in Minsk. Hundreds of people were beaten and their blood shed. It was lawlessness as it is common knowledge that the people who came there had no evil intent. The fact they were defenseless serves as proof. The wonderful and joyful day of the country was clouded by the shedding of the defenseless people’s blood. Blood does not disappear. It is crying out. Only God’s justice may stop its cry. And it will come as a retribution for the blood spilled and it will require a repentance of the guilty ones before the victims. The repentance should not be just formal though but should bear worthy fruit. The forgiveness of those who have suffered may serve as a sign that it has brought worthy fruit. Forgiveness is no small thing. It takes the curse off those who have shed blood. If those people do not get forgiveness, they will carry the punishment of God’s justice.
