NIA of India files FIR in lecturer attack case by Islamic militant outfit in Kerala

08 Apr 2011. Kochi: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has submitted the first information report (FIR) in the lecturer attack case. The NIA report has named 54 people as accused. The NIA took over the case on March 9 from the Moovatupuzha(KERALA) police which registered the case. Earlier too, 54 persons were named as accused.T J Joseph of Newman college in Thodupuzha was attacked on July 4 when he was returning with his family members near his home in Muvattupuzha.
He was accused of preparing a question paper which reportedly had some references to Prophet Mohammed, considered blasphemous.
Last year the NIA had refused to take up the case and only after it was ascertained that the case had terror links NIA took up the case.
