Adoor – Kerala - (27-04-2011): On Monday, 25th April ’11, sometime in the night, the anti-social elements, we understand, entered Anandapally St. Kuriakose Orthodox Church in Pathanamthitta District in Kerala and robbed the Sunday offerings kept in the boxes in the Sacristy of the Church. Then, we also understand, that the robbers also entered the Sanctum Sanctorum and desecrated the Holy Communion.
A police complaint has been lodged in this connection and the police are investigating.
It still remains a mystery whether this heinous act was done by the robbers or the ant-Christian fundamentalists for the simple reason, that if it was done by robbers, they would have simply decamped with the booty, and wouldn’t have bothered to desecrate the Holy Communion, unless they thought that the ciborium was also a box for safe-keeping the cash of the church. The needle of doubt however also points to the fundamentalists whose main intention could have been to hurt the sentiments of Christians. Robbing of the cash could be a ploy to mislead the police.
