LONDON, ENGLAND (ANS) -- The unique UK prayer movement Hallowed is launching a series of inspiring and challenging programmes set to start on Revelation TV's Church In Focus series (UK Sky channel 581) from Friday May 13, at 8:30pm.
"The show will include interviews with Christians from different backgrounds, including a doctor, a florist and a businessman, who will talk about how everyone is more powerful when they begin to pray and they will be more effective in what they’re called to do," said founder of Hallowed Kalpana.
She added: "It’s not just pastors but ordinary men and women who need to pray, because that’s what we’re trying to impress on the church. Prayer is not an exclusive ministry to intercessors or exclusive to pastors. It is the ministry of the whole church. So we’ll interview people from all walks of life and then we’ll share on the Biblical principles of prayer, sharing from one scripture a day. If we just look at the word pray in the English dictionary there are about 362 references and that’s just the word pray so we’ll share about one principle that the Lord had revealed to us. So it’s really to show how the whole church is vital to God’s plan and that God rallies every single person to the House of Prayer."
Kalpana founded the Hallowed prayer ministry in 2009, when she felt God call her to gather Christians from across the UK to pray for the nation, just before Halloween. Since then it's grown into an annual all day prayer event in October each year, as well as an ongoing resource to equip the whole church to pray more effectively.
"Hallowed started in 2009, after God spoke to me during a holiday in India about starting a Hallowed prayer meeting before Halloween. Then through a series of amazing miracles we were able to gather believers from the across the country for our first Hallowed event in my church.
"Then the next day in my local church during worship two people got filled with the Holy Spirit. One of them had never been baptised in the Holy Spirit, without anyone preaching about the baptism of the Holy Spirit or even laying hands on them, because that night of prayer was incredibly powerful.”
There are now two parts to Hallowed. First there is Hallowed the event, which is a day of prayer and worship for the whole family, which takes places this year October 29, 9.30am-5pm in City Temple, London.
"Hallowed will be an explosive combination of praise and prayer, along with preaching. It will be a day wholly set apart ("hallowed") for drawing near to God, our Father. We will run parallel sessions for children (led by Roar!) and youth (led by Youth for Christ, Chiselhurst and Heartbeat)”. God spoke to me from 2 Chronicles (chapter 20 verses 13-14 and 26) to call “all Judah – the men, the women and the children” to one place of united prayer and praise to turn our nation into a valley of Beracah (“blessing”).
“Hallowed the event is a big all day prayer meeting, with lots of praise, lots of worship and because it’s for the whole family, it’s really made into a fun event, so we have lots of games for the children and we give them toys. We also have specific prayer meetings for the youth. So we make it into exactly what God says in Isaiah 56:7 that there will be joy in the house of prayer and God is the God of Isaac, the God of laughter. So it’s an incredibly fun prayer meeting."
Hallowed team member Ann-Marie Headman says the feedback they receive from those who've attended their events have been very encouraging: "From across the board attendees have testified to the positive effect Hallowed has had on them. Mindsets are shifted from seeing prayer as a dull, hard some task to a thrilling and worthwhile activity of great value to God. It is also a time of great fellowship and fun.
"We want more people than ever to come and be a part. Prayer is the Christian life-line and Christians all over need to jump into this stream of heavenly prayer and praise and come away more inspired and enthused to build a continuous prayer relationship with a living God."
Also the ongoing work of Hallowed is to provide resources to help every Christian, however young, or however old, however much they’ve never prayed or prayed a lot into a house of prayer for all nations. The Hallowed website www.hallowed.org.uk provides teaching about prayer and blogs to show the Biblical principles of prayer and there are a number of prayer resources for individual Christians, who say they don’t know how to pray.
Another member of the Hallowed team Tony Horswood from Connections Trust is excited about their plans for this year's Hallowed event: "The plans are for another similar event but this time much bigger. We want people who are concerned about what happens at Halloween to come and join us. There will also be prayer for some key issues. There will be much worship and some key speakers."
